Blue Girls Field Hockey Dominant in Opener

The team pounded Revere 5-0 and faces a tough opponent Wednesday in Beverly

Consistent communication, textbook passing and great midfield play earned the a 5-0 win Monday.

They beat Revere High School in the Blue’s first game of the season.

They face a stiff test Wednesday in their home opener against a solid Beverly team, said Blue coach Toby Channen.

“It’ll tell us where we fit in — in the conference,” the coach said.

Blue fit the pieces together nicely in their away game versus Revere.

Tori Thistle nailed the first goal 20 minutes into the game, assisted by Tessa Beane.

Julieanne Marquis scored the second goal of the first half, assisted by Thistle and Ali Aylward.

Coach Channen said the team played well in all parts of its game but she was especially excited by the teamwork.

“The talking and communication has been exceptional,” Channen said.

Cody Kline tallied the first goal of the second half assisted by defensive player Lisa Vu.

Thistle returned to the scoring column netting the fourth goal, assisted by Kline.

The team fittingly notched its fifth goal on a dual assist.

Gabby Rizzo scored, assisted by Alexi Steriti and Marquis.

The team plays Beverly at 3:45 at Phillips Park Wednesday.

The game will be an indicator of where the Blue stands against the iron of the conference.

Channen likes every indication from the Blue so far.

“I’ve got athletes, I’ve got speed,” she said. “These kids have all the pieces and they have been playing together for two or three years.”
