Big Blue Hockey Makes it Two Years in a Row

The varsity hokey team qualified for the tournament Monday with a 3-2 win over Amesbury, a tough Div. 2 opponent.

The Big Blue hockey team qualified for the tournament for the second straight season with a 3-2 win on the road against a solid Division 2 team in Amesbury on Monday.

Senior Corey Carmody got the first goal with 10 seconds left in the 1st period with a nice defensive play and used his speed to finish it off by picking his corner with a shorthanded goal.

Corey almost duplicated his first goal as time expired on a penalty kill with another great defensive read and using his explosive speed by scoring this time with just 4 seconds left in the 2nd period.

The Big Blue would add to the lead making it 3-0 on a goal from junior forward Joe Sliva assisted by Tyler Peterson and Patrick Burkett.

Amesbury would make it 3-1 halfway through the 3rd period.

Things got interesting as Amesbury scored to get within 1 goal with just over 2 minutes left in the game.

The Blue were able to hold on defensively as Amesbury pulled the goalie in the final minutes.

Freshman Tristan Bradley was in goal with another solid 24-save performance.
