1. Root: Both of Swampscott High's varsity basketball teams will be in action Friday night at 7 against Salem.The girls are on the road at Salem High. The boys play at home in what should be a good game.

2. Shop: The new Big Blue Bargains thrift store, located at the back of the Middle School, really does have bargains. It's open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

3. More Shopping — and Seeing: The Gaga Gallery at 459 Humphrey Street usually has inexpensive, handmade imaginative gifts on sale. With Valentines Day coming up they might have what you are looking for. The gallery is open Saturday and Sunday from 12 pm to 6 pm

4. Winter Walks: Forecasters are predicting sunshine for both Saturday and Sunday with temps in the 40s. King's, Fisherman's and Phillips beaches beckon for walks. 

5. Listen to Music: Go on the road Saturday to nearby Salem and hear Swampscott's Whisky Wolinski and the Jazz Navs perform at the Gulu Gulu Cafe, 247 Essex St., from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
