5 Things Including Swimming Victory

Swampscott swimming and diving broke into the win column Thursday with a victory over Revere.

1) Newsbit of the Day: Swampscott swimming team coach Meaghan Simpson tells us that freshman Meg Wiessenburger had three stand out swims Thursday in the team's win over Revere, 105-75. Two of the swims were in relays, and one in the the 500 freestyle helping to lead her team to their first win of the season. Other standout swims came from Tj Delano and a 1st place swim in the 100 free with a time of 1:07.96.

Junior diver Danielle Mayblyum continues to improve on the board as well winning Thursday's diving event with a score of 146.70. Swampscott next swims against Lynn English on 1/3, the last home meet of the season for the Big Blue Swim and Dive Team.

2) Swampscott Scholars:  Class of 2012 graduate Jesse DePaolo received the Steven Santanello Memorial Scholarship.

3) A bit of Brady (Tom): A lot of times I find that people who are blessed with the most talent don't ever develop that attitude, and the ones who aren't blessed in that way are the most competitive and have the biggest heart.
