Two Of Three Schools Improve In Parent Perception Survey

But district-wide, far fewer parents responded to this year's survey — 229 compared to 399 a year earlier.

 

Superintendent Dr. Lynne Celli recently outlined the results of several parent and teacher surveys that showed the district is making improvements in parent perception, except for the . 

Although 170 fewer parents responded to the survey this year than last year (399 to 229), Celli told School Committee members last week that she feels confident that the surveys are an accurate reflection of how the parents feel the schools are doing.

Among the elementary school parents, the survey showed that 1 percent more (88 percent) gave the schools an A or a B last year over the previous year. Among the high school parents, 3 percent more (69 percent) gave the school an A or a B grade.

The Middle School parents were not so happy. Seventy six percent gave the school an A or B grade. That was down by 5 percentage points from the previous year.

Celli, noting that the Middle School will have a new principal and assistant principal next year, said, "We are addressing those issues."
