Swampscott Girls Hoops Get Tournament Bye

The Big Blue girls will also host a game in the tournament, playing the winner of the Stoneham vs. Lynnfield game.

 

The Swampscott High girls' basketball team is excited about its upcoming state tournament run but the players will have to wait to see who they will be playing.

The Big Blue, 17-3, earned a bye in the first round of the tournament and will play the winner of Wednesday's game between Stoneham and Lynnfield.

Swampscott Coach Jack Hughes said he will be scouting that game as the Big Blue prepares for its March 3, match-up at 7 pm on the Swampscott gym floor.

He hopes local fans come support the home team.

A key for Big Blue will be to continue playing sound and inspired basketball in spite of the extended lay-off.

They earned that respite by virtue of their 17-3 record, second only to the 18-2 mark by Bedford High.
