Schools Stress Safety in Light of Powder Mailings

Massachusetts education officials have assured superintendents that state and federal investigators are investigating reports of white powder being mailed to schools in the commonwealth.

Given the recent publicity on the “white powder” mailings to  schools in Massachusetts, I wanted everyone to know that the Swampscott public schools’ administration and staff are doing everything to assure the continued safety of our students.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has assured superintendents that these mailings are being investigated thoroughly by the federal and state authorities and to date have not ruled that they are of any danger.

Further, I want to assure all that we are working together in the , and as school districts in the commonwealth to remain vigilant and conscious of anything that may interfere with the continued safe and healthy learning environment for our students.
