School District Business Manager Resigns

The resignation of the Finance Office head was effective immediately.

Ed Cronin, the Swampscott School District's business manager and budget director, resigned Friday.

The business manager met with Swampscott Interim Superintendent Garry Murphy on Friday, and he accepted Cronin's resignation.

The resignation was effective immediately.

The superintendent said he will release additional information on the contract settlement once it is concluded.

The business manager/budget director started working for the Swampscott District in 2006.

Patch has sought comment from Ed Cronin and will post any comments it receives from him.

Below is a copy of an email that Swampscott Interim Superintendent Garry Murphy sent to Swampscott school staff:

"Please be informed that Ed Cronin has resigned as the district’s business administrator.  I have arranged for temporary leadership for the business office until a permanent replacement is found.  The school committee and I are committed to hiring a highly skilled business administrator with experience in both finance and operations."
