School Committee Elects Leaders
Here is one of five things to know about Swampscott today: there's a new chairman and vice chairman on the School Committee, and one of the new members was appointed to the School Building Committee.
1) Newsbit of the Day:
The School Committee elected Rick Kraft chairman and Ted Delano vice-chairman.

Also, the committee made the following subcommittee assignments:
- Communication Subcommittee Ted Delano (chair) and Amy O’Connor
- Finance Subcommittee Ted Delano (chair) and Amy O’Connor
- Grants and Student Life Subcommittee Marianne Hartmann (chair) and Carin Marshall
- Negotiations Subcommittee Rick Kraft (chair) and Carin Marshall
- Policy Subcommittee Marianne Hartmann (chair) and Carin Marshall
The committee also voted to support the superintendent’s appointment of Carin Marshall to the Schools Building Committee (working with the Mass. School Building Authority to secure funding for renovating or replacing Swampscott elementary schools).

2) Town and School Watch:
The Planning Board meets Monday at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, located at the rear of the high school.
3) Swampscott Sports:
Swampscott High varsity competitions at home today. There is one, the boys lacrosse team has a game against Winthrop at 4 at Phillips Park.
There will be a tryout for the Swampscott Marblehead Junior Legion Baseball team( 17 and under) players with a 1996 birth date or above on Sunday May 19th at Seaside Park in Marblehead from 12:00 PM to 2:00PM Anyone needing info can call head coach Tom Engstom at 781 639 0292
4) Weather Watch:
Partly sunny, with a high near 73.
