He said he has learned that a school district does not run on numbers, it runs on people.

He thanked those with whom he has served over the past three years and recalled an especially gratifying experience — shaking the hands of graduating seniors.

He said he was grateful for having had the chance to hand them diplomas, look them in the eye and say congratulations.

Committee members thanked Beaupre for his service.

His seat and incumbent Jaren Landen's are up for election on Tuesday.

The candidates are Landen, Carin Marshall and Amy O'Connor.

Beaupre originally planned to run for re-election but reconsidered.

"Since then, I have had to take a hard look at the demands of my job, the needs of my family and demands involved in serving as Chair for the past year," he said earlier in the year.  "As a result, I have decided not to seek another term at this time."
