North Shore Graduations Step Up Security

After last month's Boston Marathon bombing, school officials aren't taking any chances.

North Shore colleges and high schools will increase security for graduation ceremonies due to the Boston Marathon bombing, the Salem News is reporting.

Many schools, like Salem State University and Gordon College, will have bag searches and increased number of security personnel.

On April 15, two bombs were detonated at the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring more than 170 others. Since then, security has been a concern at large events around Boston.

"There will be a lot of eyes around. We will all be aware and watching what will be going on around us," Joanne Waldner, assistant to the president at Endicott College, told the Salem News.
