Middle Schoolers Heading to Broadway for Class and Show

The day trip is Nov. 9.

Twenty-five students in the Swampscott Middle School Theater Club will spend a day in New York City next month, attending an acting workshop and seeing a show.

Selectmen approved the trip at their last meeting on the recommendation of Interim Superintendent Garry Murphy. The bus transportation and the workshop and show will cost each student $20.

Nov. 9 will be a long and exciting day for the kids and their teacher Glenn Kane and their other chaperones. They leave at 5 a.m. and return at about 10:30 p.m.

In between they will take a theater workshop in a Broadway classroom that includes a Q&A with a Broadway actor.

Afterwards they will eat lunch and head over to see the Peter and the Starcatcher.
