Learn Proper Training Techniques

A Big Blue strength and conditioning clinic will be offered Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Swampscott High gym. The clinic is free to athletes of all sports.

Calling all Big Blue athletes interested in gaining strength and agility.

Take part in the Swampscott Big Blue strength and conditioning clinic on Monday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The free clinic will be held in the high school gym for athletes of all sports.

The speakers include the school’s athletic trainer, Dennis Borg; and St. John’s Prep physical education teacher Vince Miserandino, a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Also speaking will be physical education teacher Peter Bush, a three-sport coach at Swampscott High School; and Cindy Lavender, a physical education teacher and former head soccer and softball coach at Swampscott High.

Topics will include the following: dynamic warm-up; linear speed training; agility training; and plyometrics.

Other topics will include training for upper and lower body strength and proper cool down.
