Community Meeting Wednesday 10/26 regarding 128-140 Humphrey Street

The building adjacent to the Hadley school, which burned down last year, is being rebuilt.   There will be a community meeting regarding this important “gateway to our town” project Wednesday October 26 at 7pm in the Hadley gym.   The Planning Board approved the plans SUBJECT TO the applicant, their attorney and their architect meeting to discuss their plans with anyone interested.  The applicant has no legal obligation to make any changes to its plans and can proceed with the project regardless of feedback from the community unless a person or group chooses to file a judicial appeal of the Planning Board’s decision.    However, it is still important that as a community we understand what is being built next to the Hadley school and what, if any, impact it may have. We strongly encourage you to come, see the plans, ask questions of the owners, their architect and lawyer and hear the comments and concerns of other community members.  Both the applicant and the architect stated they would be open to hearing any concerns regarding the project and would work to accommodate aesthetic ideas as long as they fell within the constricted budget.  While the applicant will not have any legal obligation to make changes, this is our last opportunity to meet with those responsible for the project and express specific concerns we have about the building that is adjacent to Hadley School and Linscott Park.  One document containing concerns and recommendations that are brought up at the meeting will be drafted and submitted in writing to applicant, the Planning Board, and the media.   Please join us Wednesday October 26 at 7pm in the Hadley gym.  Come as early as 6:30pm to take a look at the plans before the meeting starts.
