District May Add Kindergarten Class

The superintendent and fellow administrators are watching the enrollment numbers.

 

Superintendent Lynne Celli thinks the district may need an additional kindergarten class next school year to keep class sizes low.

School officials are monitoring the situation.

The district has the space and equipment for a class at Hadley Elementary School, the superintendent said.

As of a recent check the enrollment numbers for kindergarten were seven classes of 20 students and one with 21, the superintendent said.

Over the summer the net gain is typically 10 to 15 students, the superintendent said.

School Committee Chairman Rick Kraft said administrators were watching the numbers.

No decision has been announced on whether to add the class.
