Committee Member Not Seeking Re-election

Glenn Paster will not seek re-election to the School Committee.

He said in a phone interview today, Tuesday, that his decision was for professional and family reasons.

Members often come aboard the committee for their own reasons but soon the motivation becomes what is best for students in the district's five schools, he said.

Two actions he is most proud of during his time on the panel is hiring Superintendent Lynne Celli and approval of the district's drug and alcohol policy.

He'll remain involved in school matters, including helping to solve elementary school building needs, he said.

Both incumbents on the committee decided against re-election bids. Incumbent Maureen Thomsen announced her decision recently.
