Clarke School's Annual Country Fair June 8

The Clarke School's grounds at 100 Middlesex Avenue will be transformed to a country fair with farm animals in the field on Sunday June 8 from 11am – 3pm.

Come for the music.

Come for the animals.

Come for the chance to win $1,000.

Most of all, organizers are hoping you will come to the 21st annual Country Fair for some good old fashioned family fun.

The Clarke PTA celebrated its 20th year in 2012 but then took a year off to regroup and restructure the event.  “We’re really excited to be brining the fair back,” PTA President Mary Barnwell said. “We heard from many of the Clarke parents as well as the Swampscott community that they really missed it.  I’ve been in this town almost 20 years and we have attended the fair every year with our kids.

The event, put on by the Clarke School PTA, has in the past been the school’s biggest fundraiser, but this year the focus is on fun for everyone, so many free events have been added, Barnwell said.

“We’ve been fortunate to partner with the Lynch/Van Otterloo YMCA who will be staffing many fun field games during the day.  We will also have free live music, balloon animals and face painting.”

There will be the traditional ticketed rides and games, as well as food and Clarke attire for sale.  Funds generated pay for field trips to museums, enrichment programs, and other cultural doings.

On Sunday there will be plenty to do at the fair.

Make friends with animals in the petting zoo.

Ride a pony.

Compete for a cake in a game of musical chairs called a cake-walk.

Jump on the moon bounce or other inflatable games.

Listen to live musical performances.

Be dazzled by “Ed the Wizard”

Then there is a chance to win $1,000 with the Cow Fling Raffle.  Tickets are sold at $10 each, both prior to the fair and day-of.  There is a $1,000 grand prize, a second prize of $250 and a third prize of $100 (
