Tuesday afternoon, if the weather cooperates, prom-bound students will pose for pictures on the Town Hall lawn from 4:30 until 5:45.

It's a tradition.

Looking their best, the seniors pose among spreading trees on the green lawn against the red-brick background of historic Town Hall.

Next they will shove off for an evening of dining and dancing by giant sea turtles, chubby penguins and slow moving sharks at the New England Aquarium in Boston.

Later, from midnight to 3:30 am, students will go to a substance-free event sponsored by the Parent Teacher Forum at Swampscott High School.

The post-prom party is free — courtesy of local companies and parents — and will include food, music and games, ending with a show by Frank Santos the hypnotist.

The senior banquet is Thursday at the high school with dinner at 6 and awards at 7.

Graduation rehearsal is Friday at 11 am at Blocksidge Field followed by the senior bbq.

Graduation is Sunday at Phillips Park. The district calendar lists the ceremonies for a 1 pm start.
