Witch City Tri Returns this Summer

The Salem YMCA and Streamline Events are proud to announce the return of the Witch City Sprint Triathlon to Salem on Sunday July 29.

Salem’s best sprint triathlon scheduled for July 29th

The Salem YMCA and Streamline Events are proud to announce the return of the Witch City Sprint Triathlon to Salem. The event which takes place on Sunday, July 29th is part of the Streamline triathlon race series which includes popular race events such as the Cohasset, Nantucket and Boston triathlons.

“We are excited to bring this event back to Salem,” said Salem YMCA Executive Director, Mari Matt. “Partnering with Streamline helps us provide a top quality triathlon in Salem, a city committed to supporting the health and wellness goals of its residents and always welcoming to its visitors.”

The sprint distance race features a ½ mile swim, 13 mile bike and 3.2 mile run in through Salem and Marblehead. Beginning at Forest River Park, the swim course is set in Salem Harbor and should be comfortable with the water temperature expected to be in the mid-60s. The bike course will head into Marblehead following Ocean Boulevard towards Marblehead Neck for two loops and then back into Salem. Lastly, the run course finishes the race on the Marblehead Rail Trail. Athletes will cross the finish line at Forest River Park and enjoy a spectacular morning with music brought to the event by The River 92.5 FM.

“The Witch City Triathlon is perfect for the first time sprint triathlete and competitive for those more experienced racers,” said Salem YMCA Health & Wellness Director, Elizabeth Schultz. “With a strong community of athletes in Salem, we look forward to seeing participants at all levels facing the challenge, reaching their goals and joining in on the fun!”

3:00-5:00 pm       Packet pick up at the Forest River Park (the race venue)

Sunday, July 29th
6:30am       Transition area, Body Marking and Registration open
8:00am       Transition area closes
8:15am       Mandatory pre-race meeting for athletes at Swim Start with Race Director
8:30am       Race begins
10:30am     Post-Race Activities begin

Parking
Parking has been reserved for racers at the O'Keefe Center at Salem State University. The parking lot will open at 6:30am. After parking your car, with your gear on your back, you can bike the less than one mile to Forest River Park. The address to the O'Keefe Center is 225 Canal Street, Salem, MA 01970.
