Swampscott Nahant Youth Basketball Plans Registration For Travel and Inter-town Leagues

Inter-town League changes expected to encourage widespread participation

The SNYB Organization will be holding its annual registrations for both Travel Basketball and its inter-town Intramural Boys Program on two nights, Oct. 23 and Oct. 30 from 7-8:30 pm at the Swampscott High School Cafeteria.

Travel programs are available to Swampscott and Nahant boys and girls from Grade 5 - Grade 8.  Teams will be made up of players from individual grades, meaning there will be separate teams for each grade level.

The boy’s travel teams will play in the Eastern League while the girl’s teams will play in the North Shore Girls Basketball League.  There will be one or two games per week played on Saturday and/or Sunday with two scheduled team practices during the week.  Home games are played at the Swampscott High School.

Now into its third year, The Inter-town Program, arranged in a 5th/6th grade conference and a 7th/8th grade conference, require less commitment than travel, but will be structured to create a team and competitive atmosphere. In a major change this year, to accommodate more players and adult volunteers, these games will be played during the week at the Swampscott Middle School gym.  There is no practice commitment for this league.  SNYB Travel Players are encouraged to participate in this league.
