Recreation Dept. to offer Fall Wrestling Program

Recreation Dept.'s Summer Youth Wrestling Program Driving Increased Interest In The Sport

Coming off the heels of a six-week summer session that offered local kids 18 hours of introductory & intermediate wrestling instruction, The Swampscott Recreation Department plans to continue it's offering of a Wrestling Session for kids ages 7 through 13.

The fall session will run 8 weeks on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00pm - 7:30pm at Swampscott High School. The session is expected to begin on September 17th and run through early November. The cost is $150 for 24 total hours of wrestling instruction.

Instructors for the program will be Rick Wyman, a former High School State Champion from Arizona who was also a 5th Team All American in Folkstyle Wrestling. Helping Rick out is Rob Hopkins, a member of the Swampscott-Marblehead High School Wrestling Booster Club. Also assisting, will be current varsity wrestlers, Cam Budrow & Stephen Hopkins.

Swampscott, Nahant & Marblehead parents whose kids are interested in this program, should check the Swampscott Recreation Department online Registration page- anytime after 9/30, the Fall Wrestling Session option should be available.
