Walk Phillips Park With Coaches on Sunday

Varsity coaches whose teams use fields at Phillips Park will be at the entrance by the field house Sunday morning at 8:30 to tour the fields with residents. Everyone is invited.

Two varsity coaches will tour the Phillips Park grounds with residents on Sunday at 8:30 am.

Everyone is welcome to attend regardless of their stance on the proposed artificial surface for Blocksidge Field, said Swampscott High varsity lacrosse coach Josh Field.

The coach said he and varsity football coach Steve Dembowski will be at the entrance to Blocksidge Field, to the side of the field house, at 8:30 am.

The tour comes one day ahead of Monday's town meeting vote on Blocksidge Field improvements.

"It's an opportunity for everyone to see first-hand the condition of the fields and will allow us to make a more accurate evaluation of the fields as we head into this very important town meeting vote," Field said.

The coaches, who, combined, have 20 years coaching experience in Swampscott, will answer questions related to the fields.

The tour will include walks on several Phillips Park fields as well as a look at the stands and press box.

The coach estimates the tour will last between 30 and 45 minutes.

Other Swampscott coaches may be on hand, as well.

And then maybe we all should tour the Town Hall's clerks office and view the chart that shows our taxes for the last 10 years ... Nice Try BUT a Joke !!

We should spend every available penny of capital improvememts on "needs" not "wants".Our failed sewer and storm drain system has flooded several hundrfed homes. If this article passes Town Meeting people who care will need to collect 800 signatures in five days to make it a question for all voters to decide

I'm so sick of the "it's worked for X amount of years so why change it." That is the laziest reason to not do something that I've ever heard....
