Tupelo Road Property Rubble Awaits Removal Permit

The owner will seek a permit from selectmen next week to remove large piles on the property.

An oceanfront property owner is scheduled to seek an earth removal permit approval from selectmen next week.

On Tuesday, the owner of the property at 60 Tupelo Road appeared before the Earth Removal Advisory Committee.

Committee members said after the meeting that they plan to recommend to selectmen that the pile of rubble on the property be removed.

The earth removal needs a permit because there is so much of it.

Selectman Barry Greenfield said last week that he saw the pile and it was immense, likening it, with overstatement, to a Pyramid of Giza.

Earlier this year, the owner of the property came before the Conservation Commission for approval to construct a pool within 100 feet of the coastal bank.

Salem engineer Scott Patrowicz represented the property owner, Thomas Kostinden.

The previous home at 60 Tupelo, a tile-roofed mansion built in 1920, was demolished.

The property is .85 of an acre.

Tupelo Road is located off Puritan Road and runs parallel to Galloupes Point Road.
