The Swampscott Board of Selectmen will meet with a representative of the Red Rock Bistro Wednesday night to discuss a planned expansion project, according to the posted agenda.

The public hearing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Swampscott Town Hall.

The request from Red Rock Bistro, located at 141 Humphrey St., is to change the parameters of their current common victualler's License and liquor license.

The restaurant is planning on remodeling the first floor, adding a second bar and increasing their seating to 254. The expansion will also include the addition of a roof-top deck bar, increasing seating to 179.

Swampscott Patch will keep you posted.

Would be great if they could sublet the Hawthorne parking lot. Does anyone actually eat there anymore? Some restaurants add more value than others. I hope the town does not drag it's heels too much.

Nice picture of the demo of Red Rock in the Item online with a story about the future of the site. Times are a changing.

A fairly extensive "renovation", looks like a complete demo. Amazing how quickly this project moved forward. CS

Rumor on the street was that they couldn't do the planned project with the current foundation, so they had to tear the whole thing down. Someone with more construction knowledge may know more about that than I.
