State Drops Health Insurance Website Contractor

Massachusetts is cutting ties with CGI, the contractor that created the online health insurance marketplace after months of complaints from users.

“We have made the decision we’re going to be parting ways with CGI,” Sarah Iselin, who was hired recently by Governor Deval Patrick to oversee repairs to the website, told The Boston Globe

The Boston Globe reported that the commonwealth may hire another company to fix the Health Connector website. In January, the state hired Bedford-based MITRE Corp. to find fixes to the Massachusetts Health Connector website.

That became controversial when it was reported only one person was reviewing the site.

Massachusetts has needed to use paper applications to get uninsured residents onto the state marketplace in order to meet the federal Affordable Care Act requirements, reported the Boston Globe.

State leaders hope the site will be working without problems by next fall for the 2015 enrollment period.

When the name calling comes out we all know you have given up and have nothing intelligent left to say (your last post is proof of that) so it is time to say goodbye on this one Tyler. Better luck next time.

Tyler, Romneycare is state run. Obamacare is federally run. Romney care is not telling us what insurance co. nor doctor we can choose. Obamacare does ! That's why I don't understand why this state chose to go with Obamacare.

State had no choice but to switch to Obamcare. Fed trumps state. And even though they are supposed to be the same i know people in ma that had plans cancelled because of it.
J. Parker March 19, 2014 at 11:49 PM
Exactly! So why are people calling Obamacare, Romneycare? You don't have to answer that.....
Tyler Jozefowicz March 20, 2014 at 04:26 PM
J. Parker: to answer your question, Obamacare like Romneycare allows you to go to an exchange and select coverage. 99% of MA people are already covered . Nothing happen to them . Anyone else not covered and desiring to do so, can go to the exchange, or they can go to a private healthcare provider anytime they want. Federal exchanges are set up in states that refuse to provide their own exchange for their own citizens even though the feds pay 100% the first year and 90% for the next 3 years . The people complaining here already have insurance but hate Obama. Romney ran away from his own healthcare program because he was running for president and lost.
