“We welcome the participation of our fellow Patriots,” states Ralph Edwards, SDTC chairman.  “2012 is an important election year on local, state, and national levels.  Through the SDTC citizens engage in discussion of issues, working on campaigns, and exercising the franchise.”

The SDTC meeting includes a presentation on Good Governance, a sub committee work group lead by Mary DeChillo. “We’re looking at steps taken in Massachusetts and other states to encourage and assure good governance, at the roles that citizens play, and what policies and procedures are needed,” observed DeChillo. In relation to this the SDTC has invited State Auditor Suzanne Bump to be the guest speaker.

On her web site, Bump states: "The Office of The State Auditor is committed to making government work better for you. Our mission is to ensure that every dollar given to state government is a dollar well spent and that government agencies and contractors follow the rules when spending public funds. By promoting transparency and accountability, we are the public's frontline defense against fraud, waste and abuse in state government and your strongest advocate for better results.

In other SDTC business, Agnes Ricko, veteran chairman of the Lynn Democratic City Committee and member of the State Democratic Committee, will describe the procedures for individuals interested in attending the state convention.

Additionally, there will be updates on the various campaigns and SDTC projects including the Community Forum and Reduce Hunger Project. “Most importantly, the SDTC is an opportunity for citizens to impact the political system and work together to improve our community,” said Edwards. "We welcome the public to attend and participate in our meeting."
