Selectmen to Hear Dog Park Presentation Tonight

The board will hear a presentation on the dog park from the Swampscott Park for Off-leash Time group.

Last time selectmen met, the town administrator told the board he thinks a dog park can be opened at Phillips Park by Sept. 1.

Tonight, Wednesday, at Town Hall, selectmen will hear a dog park presentation, a Swampscott Park for Off-leash Time group presentation, according to the meeting agenda.

The board meets at 7 and the dog park item is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

SPOT has worked on behalf of the dog park for years. And for years park supporters have faced hurdles, some of which included opposition from those who live nearby with concerns about the park's influence on their quality of life.

Most recently, last summer, the park was put on hold due to the Grown Ups 2 movie sound stage.

The park is targeted for land adjacent to the parking lot at Phillips Park.
