The underground line, to carry electric power, would run along Puritan Road from the intersection of Lincoln House Point to the intersection of Woodbine Avenue.

Selectmen Chairman Matt Strauss said Puritain Road was paved last year. Since the utility must break through the pavement to install its line, National Grid would be responsible for restoring the broken road, he said.

The public hearing on the proposal starts at 7:15.

Also at the meeting, selectmen are scheduled to appoint James Potts as the permanent deputy chief of the Swampscott Fire Department. He has been acting deputy chief since Kevin Breen was made fire chief late last year.

In addition, Christopher Drinon is to be appointed a full-time permanent firefighter for the department.
