Phillips Beach Parking to Get Another Look

The chairman of the Board of Selectmen asked the Traffic Study Committee to look at parking including neighborhood parking for the popular summertime destination.

 

The town Traffic Study Committee will again take up parking at the popular summertime destination Phillips Beach.

The chairman of the Board of Selectmen asked study committee member and Assistant Town Administrator Dave Castellarin to have the panel consider the whole situation including changes to parking restrictions on Ocean Avenue and other streets in the neighborhood.

That includes Longley Avenue and Bradlee Avenue, as well as Brown Road and Cutting Road.

"I think we need to have the discussion," the chairman said at the board's last meeting, on June 5.

The chairman recognized it will be a difficult discussion.

The assistant town administrator agreed. It will bring up the issue of commuter parking around the railroad station, he said.

The traffic study committee typically holds meetings on topics and discusses them before bringing a recommendation to selectmen.

The committee's members, in addition to the assistant town administrator, are Gino Cresta of DPW, Gary Lord of Swampscott police and James Potts of Swampscott fire.
