Finance Panel Starts Earlier Than Usual

The committee will open their initial review of the draft 2013 Budget when they meet tonight.

 

Finance Committee members are meeting earlier in the budget process than usual. Tonight.

That's not a bad thing, says Committee Chairman Michael McClung.

After all, the panel has many new members and they will be working on the Fiscal 2013 Budget with a new town administrator, Acting Administrator Dave Castellarin.

"The more educated we are about the budget and the budget process the better the recommendations will be on the floor at Town Meeting," the chairman said.

Tonight they meet at 7 at for an initial review of the draft budget.

The goals tonight are to orient themselves and begin a dialogue with Dave Castellarin, McClung said.

The Capital Improvement Committee opened its review of Fiscal 2013 capital requests two weeks ago.

The largest request is a $1,857,865 upgrade to  that includes an artificial surface for Blocksidge Field.

Selectmen introduced the upgrade in September, asking the town administrator to assemble a financial plan for the work.

The CIC will send its recommendations to selectmen.

The budget then heads to Finance Committee members for their review.
