DPW Hooking Up Plows As Season's First Storm Approaches

It may start to look a lot like winter over the weekend with 3-6 inches of snow possible for the North Shore.

Starting Friday, it will look like winter at the Department of Public Works yard on Paradise Road.

Crews will be hooking plows to DPW vehicles, said DPW Director Gino Cresta.

The plow teams will be on call over the weekend, ready to take to their assigned routes should the storm hit, the director said.

The town has 15 vehicles — including a new 1-ton truck — at its disposal for plowing and salting and sanding.

When snowfall reaches a depth of 4 inches, the DPW typically brings in contractors to help clear the roads, the director said.

The storm is projected for Saturday into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
