Blodgett Elected as President of Mass. DA's Association

Essex County District Attorney Jon Blodgett was recently elected president of the Mass. District Attorney's Association by its membership.

“Together, the district attorneys prosecute over 300,000 cases every year,” Blodgett said in an announcement, adding he and his fellow DAs also work on numerous prevention and intervention programs for drug and alcohol awareness, ID theft and scams awareness, domestic violence, juveniles and drug diversion.

“As President, I will work to ensure that we maintain our utmost efforts to protect public safety through prosecution and prevention programs,” he said.

Blodgett was first elected DA in 2002 and he's now in his third term. He also previously served as president of the MDAA from 2006-2007.

Blodgett is also on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Office of Victim Assistance, the Vice President of the National District Attorneys Association and serves as the DA’s liaison to the state Adult Drug Court Advisory Committee.

He graduated from Princeton University and Suffolk Law School and served as an assistant DA in Lynn and Peabody before opening his own law practice.

The MDAA is an independent state agency that supports the 11 elected DAs in the Bay State and their employees by centrally managing statewide business technology initiatives, running a federally-funded training program for prosecutors, victim-witness advocates and public safety professionals, and presenting the district attorneys’ spending and policy priorities to the executive and legislative branches.
