Beach Parking and Vending Before Selectmen

Other items include water and sewer rates and transferring ownership of the former senior center to the town.

Selectmen are scheduled to hear from a Puritan Lane resident tonight who wants parking prohibited on the lane.

The chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Matt Strauss, said the resident wants parking on the lane to be consistent with parking rules on nearby streets.

Strauss expects the board will forward this request and others related to parking and speeding on Burpee Road to the panel.

The panel typically hosts public hearings on traffic problems, and reviews them, before forwarding their recommendations to selectmen.

Selectmen have the final say on these questions.

Selectmen will also hear from , owner of a New York-style vendor's cart.

Foglia wants to sell food and drinks from his roadside cart at Phillips Beach.

Strauss said the town's existing vendor's permit sells for $100 a day but the board will talk about establishing a seasonal permit for vending.

Strauss said the board will also talk about a proposal to keep water and sewer rates for 2012 at their 2011 level.

"It looks like the reserves are in a good spot to not require any increase," he said.

Also Tuesday, the town administrator will report on progress on transferring ownership of the from an American Legion group to the town.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. on the first floor at Town Hall.
