Woman Trapped on Balcony

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police log:

Tuesday, April 17

  • At 7:25 a.m., police received a call about an elderly man that looked lost on Norfolk Avenue. Police gave the man directions to Salem.
  • At 12:28 p.m., a group on the train tracks on Railroad Avenue taking photos was reported. The group was part of a production company and had notified MBTA officials.

Wednesday, April 18

  • A small boat was reported stolen from Humphrey Street. The theft was reported at 1:46 p.m.
  • At 6:24 p.m., police received a report that a group of kids had made a campfire on Dandreo Way. The fire department extinguished the fire.
  • At 7:49 p.m., a Loring Avenue woman called police to tell them she was trapped on her balcony. The woman told police she walked out on her balcony and the door locked behind her. The fire department was able to help the woman.

Thursday, April 19

  • At 12:54 p.m., a resident of Atlantic Avenue reported a dead pigeon in his yard. The bird had a red and yellow tag on it.
  • At 1:04 p.m., an Aspen Road resident told police she heard someone yelling, 'Do you want to go to the hospital?' Police did not find anyone in the area.
  • At 3:25 p.m., a small mulch fire was reported on Paradise Road.
  • At 4:51 p.m., youths lighting fires off Drandeo Way were reported. Police found some youths with a small fire going.
  • At 6:27 p.m., youths throwing rocks were reported on Humphrey Street.
  • At 6:38 p.m., a small mulch fire was reported on Vantage Terrace.

Friday, April 20

  • At 11:35 a.m., police were called to Monument Avenue for a man face down on the church lawn. The man was fine, just sleeping, police said.

Saturday, April 21

  • A resident called police at 6:24 p.m. after a car pulled up and spoke to youths on Phillips Avenue and made them nervous.
  • At 7:17 p.m., police received a call similar to the previous one about a man in a green car speaking to children. Police located the man. No further information was provided in the log.

Sunday, April 22

  • "A loud phone talker" was reported on Paradise Road at 12:54 a.m.

Monday, April 23

  • A large tree came down on Forest Avenue at 5:59 a.m. DPW responded.
  • At 10:46 a.m., squatters were reported in a Humphrey Street apartment.
  • An unresponsive 2-year-old was reported on Paradise Road at 11:59 a.m. When emergency personnel arrived, the baby was alert. The child was taken to Salem Hospital.

The following people were arrested:

  • Christine Curley, 31, 9 Brooks Terrace, was charged with domestic assault and battery.
  • Juan Laraque, 19, 78 Gibbs St., Brookline, was charged with breaking and entering for misdemeanor.
