Trail of Damage from Swampscott to Salem

Five parked cars were hit early Sunday morning by a 19-year-old who was later charged with operating under the influence.

 

Police responding to a Canal Street accident in Salem Sunday morning found it was the last in a string of accidents between Salem and Swampscott.

Jacqueline Y. Portillo, 19, of 36 Highland Ave., Everett, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol,  three counts of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and committing a marked lanes violation, according to Salem police.

Police responded to the Canal Street accident at 4:07 a.m.

After they backtracked the driver's path, they discovered she hit five parked cars between Swampscott and Salem, police said.
