Syringes Found and Sick Skunk Walking in Circles

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police Department's log:

Friday, June 14:

  • At 6:54 a.m., police received a 911 call from a Shelton Road resident who said she was applying a product in her hair and had no running water.
  • At 7:21 a.m., a lifeline activation was reported at 167 Puritan Road where an elderly woman had fallen. The Fire Department was needed to gain entry.
  • At 9:32 a.m., the Department of Children and Families was conducting an investigation at a Loring Avenue apartment. Syringes were found and needed to be disposed.
  • At 1:20 p.m., a Pine Street caller reported that someone was painting a car in the driveway and the fumes were entering neighboring homes.
  • At 4:36 p.m., a person found a syringe at Eastern Avenue and Humphrey Street. The person was waiting for police to arrive.
  • At 6:58 p.m., an elderly woman fell on Elliott Street. EMS was notified.
  • At 7:23 p.m., a child fell off a scooter and was bleeding badly at Clarke School by the baseball field. The Fire Department was notified. The child's grandmother refused transportation for the child to the hospital.
  • At 8:41 p.m., police received a report of yard debris burning and creating a lot of smoke on Worcester Avenue. 
  • At 10:50 p.m., a Banks Road child, 12 years old, received a disturbing Instagram message. 

Saturday, June 15:

  • At 10:05 a.m., a fight was reported on Paradise Road. The fighters were gone upon police's arrival.
  • At 11:37 a.m., police received a report of barking dogs over several hours in the area of Hillside Avenue and Elliott Street. The dogs were brought inside.
  • At 11:53 a.m., a person on Greenwood Avenue reported receiving a call from someone claiming to represent the town of Swampscott. The caller stated they wanted to get into the home to check for storm damage. Police reported that the house looked secure.
  • At 2:04 p.m., a caller reported that the traffic light at Humphrey and Blaney Streets was stuck on green in all directions.
  • At 4:07 p.m., a Valley Road resident reported a sick looking skunk walking in circles in the street. Police notified the animal control officer.
