Swampscott Police Thwart Marijuana Grow Operation on Stetson Avenue

A Swampscott man is facing drug charges after police executed a search warrant on Stetson Avenue Friday.


A local man accused of running an elaborate marijuana grow operation out of his home on Stetson Avenue was arrested by Swampscott detectives Friday.

Spencer Webber, 19, of 79 Stetson Ave., Swampscott, was arrested on charges of possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute, possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute in a school zone and manufacturing a class D substance (marijuana).

According to a release issued by police, Swampscott detectives executed a search warrant at 79 Stetson Ave. Friday after receiving a tip that Webber was running a "drug distribution enterprise out of his residence." 

Detectives conducting surveillance on the home reportedly observed "activity consistent with drug distribution." 

Detective Ted Delano applied for a search warrant at Lynn District Court, which was granted.

During Friday's search, officers reportedly recovered approximately five ounces of suspected marijuana, $500 cash and drug packaging materials.

Officers also found a grow room in the basement, according to the release.

Swampscott Detectives Jim Schultz, Rose Cheever and Ted Delano along with Marblehead Detectives Sean Sweeney and Brendan Finnegan, and Off Sal Caruso and Off Steve Luck assisted with the search warrant/Arrest.
