Swampscott Police Arrest Man on Second Drunk Driving Charge

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police Department's log:
 

Friday, Feb. 7:

  • At 7:04 a.m., police responded to a report of fresh vandalism on Roy Street.
  • At 7:52 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Estabrook Road.
  • At 8:34 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Longwood and Sunset drives.
  • At 11:21 a.m., police responded to a possible chimney sweeping scam on Boulder Way.
  • At 12:22 p.m., police responded to a past break-in on Hillside Avenue.
  • At 4:18 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Norfolk and Stetson avenues. 
  • At 10:51 p.m., police responded to an animal complaint on Lexington Circle.
  • At 11:29 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Paradise Road. Joseph Whitten, 27, of 1 Cleaves St., Rockport, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. 

Saturday, Feb. 8:

  • At 9:01 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Atlantic Avenue.
  • At 11:53 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Longwood Drive.
  • At 7:23 p.m., police responded to a complaint regarding a man urinating in the street. The man, who appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic, was sent on his way.
  • At 7:47 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Norfolk Avenue. Abimael Quinones, 34, of 304 Essex St., Swampscott, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 10:45 p.m., police tried to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Danvers Road and Essex Street but the operator fled the scene into Salem where it eventually stopped. Kelvin Grullon, 27, of 1000 Loring Ave., Salem, was arrested on a charge of failure to stop for police.

Sunday, Feb. 9:

  • At 4:14 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Humphrey Street.
  • At 2:40 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Essex Street. Monique Johnson-Upham, 22, of 300 Washington St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant for prostitution.
  • At 11:38 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Humphrey Street and Orchard Circle.

Monday, Feb. 10

  • At 7:09 a.m., a Puritan Road woman called police to report that she accidentally drove into her house.
  • At 9:40 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle near the intersection of Paradise Road and Parsons Drive. David Chavez, 24, of 6 Jones Terrace, Lynn, was arrested on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 11:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a past theft of jewelry on Littles Point Road.
  • At 4:45 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Humphrey Street.
