Nahant Arson Case Suspect Ordered Held Without Bail
The Swampscott man's charges including felony breaking and entering.
A Swampscott 18-year-old was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Monday after he allegedly broke into a Maple Avenue home in Nahant on Saturday, according to the Boston Globe.
Joshua Carreiro, 18, of 166 Puritan Road, was charged with arson of a dwelling, destruction of property over $250, receiving stolen property, felony breaking and entering, two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and seven counts of possession of a class E substance, police said.
The suspect pleaded not guilty at the Lynn District Court hearing and was held without bail pending a March 6 dangerousness hearing, according to the Globe.

Carreiro was taken into custody by Nahant police on Saturday, Nahant police said.
Nahant officers responded to a 911 distress call from the address reporting a breaking and entering at 12:55 a.m., police said.

The homeowner was involved in a struggle with the suspect, police said.
Swampscott police responded to the scene, providing mutual aid, according to police.
Investigators said Carreiro was a former friend of the son of the homeowner, Nahant Department of Public Works Superintendent Timothy Lowe, according to a CBS Boston report.
