Firefighters Respond to Smoking Electrical Box at Fish House

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police logs. Where charges are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, March 7

  • At 6:01 am., The Fire Department was notified that a caller reported flames coming out of a box at the Fish House. It turned out there were no flames but there was smoke around an electrical box on the exterior of the building and the area around the box was blackened. The Fire Department investigated. 
  • At 2:52 p.m., police reported a stray white dog that appeared to be scared and WAS in the road on Hillside Avenue. 
  • At 3:39 p.m., an estranged wife reported that she received a text message from her husband. He said he had lost his job and was very depressed. An ambulance was dispatched to the man's location. 
  • At 4:37 p.m., police received a report that a brother may have assaulted his sister. The mother said the son has developmental problems and the situation needED to be handled a certain way. 
  • At 6 p.m., police received a report from a Humphrey Street resident, in the 300-block, who said a contractor stole her purse. 

Friday, March 8

  • At 00:25 a.m., police received a report of a gunshot or an accident on Vantage Terrace. Police checked it out and spoke to someone in the area who did not hear anything.
  • At 7 a.m., police received a report that Puritan Road was flooding due to the storm.
  • At 7:01 a.m., Humphrey Street was flooded, police reported.
  • At 7:53 a.m., a caller reported she was stuck in her motor vehicle with two babies inside. She was at the intersection of Redington Street and Rockland Street, unable to move and afraid. Service was rendered.
  • At 1:34 p.m., police charged Jonathan Roy, 26, of 1 Loring Ave., Apt. 311 with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 3:26 p.m., police received a report from DPW that a Puritan Road resident was pumping water from a flooded basement into the street. DPW was concerned about the street water freezing and making for treacherous driving.
  • At 9:48 p.m., a caller at Stop & Shop reported that a man and a woman approached her after she put her grocery bags in her trunk. The man asked her to open her trunk and give her one of her plastic bags because his grocery bag was torn. The caller refused his request and the man reportedly got angry and swore at her.
