Rash of Motor Vehicle Break-Ins Including Smashed Windows

Fourteen cars have been broken into since Tuesday.

 

Swampscott police reported that over the past two days there have been 14 car breaks in town.

In a few of them the thief or theives smashed windows.

"Residents should lock their vehicles and set alarms at night and never leave objects of any value in their vehicles such as laptops, GPS units, cell phones and chargers, brief cases, bags, or loose change or cash," said Swampscott police Det. William Waters. "Motor vehicles are fast easy targets to get into."

 In most of the Swampscott thefts the cars were left unlocked. A few windows were smashed to gain entry to the motor vehicle.

Areas in town where breaks took place on Tuesday were by Humphrey Street near Stanley Road and Phillips Beach Avenue.

On Wednesday multiple breaks took place in the area of Puritan and Tupelo.

From the March 26 police log:

At 7:44 a.m., a Littles Point Road resident came into the police station Tuesday to report that his motor vehicle was broken into overnight.

At 8:53 a.m., Phillips Beach Avenue resident reported a theft from a motor vehicle.

At 10:56 a.m., an Alden Road resident reported a theft from his motor vehicle.

At 11:18 a.m., a Humphrey Street resident reported a theft from a motor vehicle.

At 3:29 p.m., a Rock Ave. resident reported a theft from a motor vehicle.
