The by-pass was installed late last year after a major system failure flooded the station with sewerage.

Pat Jones of the Police Station Building Committee said the police station project has been in a holding pattern this winter.

The contractor, TLT Construction, pulled back from construction because the company did not want to risk damaging the nearby sewer system by-pass.

The temporary line is above ground and prominent, vulnerable to damage.
