Police Make Six Arrests

The following information was provided by the Swampscott Police. Where charges are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excepts from the log from Monday, Dec. 26 to Monday, Jan. 2.

Monday, Dec. 26

At 8:10 p.m., police arrested Fresia Irene Soto, 65, 11 Beach Road, Apt. 16, Lynn, and charged her with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation. Police made the arrest on Essex Street.

Tuesday, Dec. 27

At 9:43 p.m., police arrested , 17, 251 Burrill St., Swampscott, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drinking alcohol from an open container in a motor vehicle, being a person under 21 in possession of liquor, speeding and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Police made the arrest on Essex Street.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

At 3:15 p.m., police arrested , 31, 7 Phillips Ave., Lynn, and charged him with larceny over $250 and larceny of a controlled substance. Police received a report of a man with a white spotted hoodie remove a package from a porch on New Ocean Street. He reportedly removed the contents and placed them under his sweatshirt. The suspect then went into the library. Police located the man and made the arrest on Burrill Street and recovered the items.

Thursday, Dec. 29

At 10:16 a.m., police arrested Jennifer Leigh Brown, 26, 219 Loring Ave., Apt. 1, Salem, and charged her on six counts of possessing a Class E substance, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and not having an inspection sticker. Police made the arrest on Alvin Road.

Saturday, Dec. 31

At 3:44 p.m., police arrested Joseph Clifford Ross, 46, 36 Oak Island Road, Revere, and charged him with domestic assault and battery and warrants for destruction of property more than $250, a municipal ordinance bylaw violation, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Monday, Jan. 2

At 10:28 p.m., police arrested Dario Amado Mendez, 36, 48 Burrill Ave., Apt. 2, Lynn, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle after his licnese was suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a license. Police made the arrest on Essex Street.

Incidents

Monday, Dec. 26

At 8:11 p.m., a person called police to report being assaulted by his girlfriend’s mother. One woman was taken to Salem Hospital.

Tuesday, Dec. 27

At 12:16 a.m., police received a call about a driver all over the road driving on Essex Street. Police spoke to the driver and found no problem.

At 7:14 a.m., a woman said she was involved in a minor car accident and the other person was harassing her. Police found the incident actually happened in Lynn and involved a jogger and two walkers.

At 7:59 a.m., police responded to a car accident on Alvin Road involving a pregnant woman. She was taken to North Shore Medical Center.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

At 12:15 p.m., an employee at an Essex Street business reported possible attempted fraud with an IRS check.

At 5:07 p.m., a Longwood Drive reported juveniles rang her door bell and ran. Police are familiar with the juveniles and attempted to locate them.

Thursday, Dec. 29

At 5:23 p.m., a Burrill Street resident reported a missing dog. The dog was described as a mixed breed, who is small, brown and black.

Friday, Dec. 30

At 11:44 a.m., a Paradise Road resident reported that a flag was stolen.

At 5:02 p.m., police responded to Humphrey Street about youths on scooters playing chicken with traffic. An officer spoke to the youths near the Fish House and sent them on their way.

Sunday, Jan. 1

At 2:06 a.m., a Pine Hill Road resident called police after finding a front door smashed and a gun cabinet moved. Police determined a dog broke the door.

At 2:23 a.m., a Pine Street resident reported a car revving and someone screaming. Police found the problem was an argument, but no other problem.

At 12:11 p.m., police received a call about a suspicious man handing out flyers near the police station. Police checked the area and didn’t find a problem.

At 12:57 p.m., a Humphrey Street resident said she thought she saw a male and female take something from under her porch. Police are investigating.

At 3:22 p.m., a person dropped off ammunition found at his grandfather’s house.

Monday, Jan. 2

At 2:19 p.m., police received a call about a surfboard in the ocean drifting toward Swampscott. Police found a person in the water near the Nahant Causeway who was not in distress and was paddling to retrieve a sailboat.

At 7:49 p.m., a Sargent Road resident called police after someone left a large amount of beer in front of her house. An officer confiscated a half-full beer ball, which was later destroyed.

At 8:52 p.m., police received a report that a resident’s son lost his black iPod4 Touch on Paradise Road on Friday night.

At 8:58 p.m., a Columbia Street business owner reported someone spray painted his signs.
