Police Make Nine Arrests

Restraining order violations and assaults accounted for several of the arrests.

Here are arrests and excerpts from calls for service in the Swampscott police log, from April 27 - May 5.

Wednesday, April 27

  • 7 p.m. — Jamie Croft, 25, of 27 Hampden St., in Swampcott, was arrested on a warrant charged with possession of a hypodermic needle, drug possession and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police and use of a motor vehicle without authority.

  • 1:55 p.m. — Eric Newman, 44, of 12 Verdmont Ave., in Lynn, was charged with violation of an abuse prevention order.

  Saturday, April 30

  • 3:13 a.m. — Kathleen McLaughlin, 47, of 28 Brookline St., Apt. 4, Lynn, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, destruction of property, breaking and entering during the night time, and threatening to commit a crime.

 Sunday, May 1

  • 8:23 p.m. — Doreen Perry, 47, of 18 B Thomas Road, was charged with violation of an abuse prevention order.

Monday, May 2

  • 12:01 p.m. —  Kea MacDonald, 20, of 132 Western Ave., Apt. 2, Lynn, was arrested on a warrant charged with larceny involving a check over $250.
  • 4:45 p.m. —  Louis Marifiote Jr., 50, of 571 Revere St., Apt. 5, Revere, was charged with violating an abuse prevention order, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
  • 5:18 p.m. — Antonio Pacheco, 18, of 50 Andrew St., first floor apt., Lynn, was charged with assault, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
  • 6:18 p.m. — Luis Adames, 21, of 232 Curwin Circle, Apt. 232, Lynn, was charged with assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Wednesday, May 3

  • 2:56 p.m. — Louis Marifiote Jr., 50, of 571 Revere St., Apt. 5, Revere, was charged with two counts of violating an abuse prevention order.

Log Entries 

Sunday, May 1

  • 2:17 a.m. — Police spotted a car with its door open on Elm Place and ran the registration through computer listings and found that it checked out.
  • 6:27 a.m. — Police received a report of a vehicle striking a pole on Phillips Beach Avenue. Dispatch notified fire and ambulance.
  • 9:53 a.m. — A Park Square caller reported that a 2-year-old girl had fallen and hit her head and was lethargic. She was transported to the hospital.
  • 1:43 p.m. — Police received a report of a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle two nights earlier on Orchard Circle.
  • 7:21 pm. — A caller reported a phone violation of a restraining order on Thomas Road.

Monday, May 2

  • 1:12 a.m. — Police received a report of a barking dog on Ocean View Road. 
  • 9:04 a.m. — Two female prisoners were transported to Lynn District Court. 
  • 10:58 a.m. — Police received a call about a small child being burned by coffee. The child was transported to the hospital.
  • 4:52 p.m. — A caller reported a violation of a restraining order on Railroad Avenue. The violator was placed under arrest.
  • 5:58 p.m. — Police took a report of young people fighting in the parking lot of a Paradise Road store. The victim refused medical attention. Two young people were charged with assault and battery. 

Tuesday, May 3

  • 7:45 a.m. — A police officer served a restraining order over the phone after the officer received some information.
  • 11:37 a.m. — Police received a call reporting a woman in her 50s possibly having a stroke. The person was transported to the hospital.
  • 8:34 p.m. — Police received a call about a low-hanging wire across Salem Street. Police notified Verizon.
  • 9:44 p.m. — A caller reported being assaulted by employees at a Paradise business

Wednesday, May 4

  • 4:19 a.m. — Police received a report of a breaking and entering taking place on Essex Street. An officer responded and determined there was no problem at the house.
  • 8:19 a.m. — Police received a report of a dead rat in the roadway on Norfolk Avenue. Police notified the Board of Health.
  • 9:07 a.m. — Police received a .
  • 7:30 p.m. — A Pleasant Street caller reported that a neighbor had been operating a jackhammer for several hours, causing a distrubance. The officer had the person with the jackhammer quit for the evening. 

Thursday, May 5

  • 6:52 a.m. — Police received a 911 call about a man who had passed out then returned to consciousness. The Fire Department and an ambulance were dispatched to the Humphrey Street location.
  • 9:46 a.m. — A Pierce Street caller reported someone using a debit card without permission. 
  • 1:47 p.m. — A person turned in a wallet he found in Salem. 
  • 2:24 p.m. — Police carried out a park and walk detail on Humphrey Street.  The area was checked.
