Break-In at Tedesco Country Club Investigated

An overnight break-in at  prompted Marblehead police to enlist the support of a state police K-9 unit early Wednesday morning.

At 5:25 a.m., police responded to a reported burglar alarm at the Tedesco Street golf course and found that the door to the pro shop had been broken in.

According to a Marblehead  issued Wednesday afternoon, "a party (who) reported seeing two males in their late 20's" leaving the area on Sapphire Road toward Emerald Avenue just five minutes after police arrived on scene.

The reporting party told police that they hadn't seen the pair before and officers from were notified to be on the look out for anyone matching that description.

A "bag tag" belonging to a member of the club was reportedly found by police.

Police reportedly called in a state police K9 unit, which responded from Stoneham, to assist in a search of the area surrounding the golf course.

Local officers reportedly searched several nearby homes and combed through back yards on Humphrey Street but were unable to locate anyone.

Police Chief Robert Picariello confirmed Wednesday night that items were stolen from the pro shop during the break-in, though he declined to say whether it was merchandise or the property of club members for fear that he may "give something away."

The investigation into the theft, he said, is "active and ongoing."
