Police Charge Habitual Offender

The following information came from the Swampscott Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Sept. 20

  • 7:49 a.m., a Lodge Road caller reported a suspicious car that might be stolen.
  • 8:26 a.m., police received a report about an elderly person with a back injury after falling out of bed on Burrill Street.
  • 12 noon, four vehicles were ticketed on Humphrey Street.
  • 12:44 p.m., dispatch received a report of a women in diabetic shock at Stop & Shop. The patient refused medical attention.
  • 2:19 p.m., police charged Joseph Shea, 46, of 40R Highland Ave., Salem, with operating a motor vehicle when his license was revoked as a habitual traffic offender. The vehicle was stopped on Essex Street. Another person, with a valid license, took possession of the car.
  • 5:10 p.m., Dispatch received a call from Walgreens, an employee calling on behalf of a mother who needed help with her daughter.
  • 7:14 p.m., police received a report about youth breaking into the boarded up building behind the high school to party.
  • 9:36 p.m., the Red Rock Bistro reported that someone walked out without paying their bill.
  • 10:49 p.m., an Ocean Avenue resident came home to the alarm sounding and feared that someone was in the house. Polcie walked through the home toand made sure it was safe.
Saturday, Sept. 21
  • 2:02 a.m., police received a report of a male in dark clothing and a hoodie walking back and forth between streets near Paradie Road.
