Police Arrest Revere Stabbing Suspect

A Burrill Street resident faces a host of charges in Swampscott after a brief struggle with police early this morning. Revere police later took custody of him for charges including armed assault and battery with intent to commit murder.

Later they learned that Jamaal Andrade, 28, of 184 Burrill St. was wanted by Revere police for a stabbing that took place at a party earlier in the evening, said Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy.

At 2:10 am this morning Swampscott police responded to a report of a disturbance at the Burrill Street address.

Officer Todd Pierce saw a man standing in front of the residence. When the officer asked to speak to him the man ran inside, police said.

Officer Pierce and Sgt. Jonathan Locke entered the second-floor apartment after they found out its residents had an argument, police said.

After several minutes a man identified as Jamaal Andrade came forward. Police arrested him after a brief struggle.

He was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace as well as for two outstanding warrants — for possession of Class A drugs out of Dorchester District Court, and operating with a suspended license, and speeding out of Lawrence District Court, police said.

Police later found out Andrade was wanted by Revere Police for the stabbing.

Revere police came to Swampscott and took custody of the suspect whose Revere charges include armed assault and battery with intent to commit murder, police said.

Officer Kevin Reen and officer Thomas Hennessey assisted with the arrest.
