Pick-up Truck Crashes and Burns

Firefighters knocked down a fully involved vehicle fire overnight. The lone occupant was out of the vehicle upon their arrival.

 

A pick-up truck burned on Humphrey Street in the early morning hours today after an accident near the Marblehead town line.

The lone occupant had gotten out of the Dodge Dakota pick-up truck upon firefighters' arrival, about 1:45 am, according to fire and police reports.

The individual was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, police said.

dispatched firefighters to the scene at the intersection with Crosman Ave. at 1:42 am., said Swampscott fire Capt. John Quinn.

ladder truck was first on the scene since its engine was out on another call, the fire captain said.

The ladder truck crew used fire extinguishers to knock down flames on the pick-up, which was fully involved in fire. When the engine crew arrived they hit the fire with water, Quinn said.

Fire crews under shift commander Capt. Kevin Thompson cleared the scene at 2:39 am.

A Marblehead fire engine responded to the scene as well.
