Pet Bird Found In Hurricane

The following information was submitted by the Swampscott Police Department, where arrests or charges are mentioned they do not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police log:

Thursday, Aug. 25

  • At 12:04 p.m. a bicycle was reported stolen from the train depot.  

Friday, Aug. 26

  • At 7:39 a.m. a resident of Magnolia Road reported their car had been broken into.
  • At 7:58 a.m. a resident of Beach Bluff Ave. reported their car had been broken into.
  • Police responded to Kensington Lane at 10:12 a.m. after two cars got into a minor accident and the drivers began arguing in the street.
  • At 12:07 p.m. a postal worker reported being assaulted by a dog.
  • At 1 p.m. a person driving on Danvers Road told police he saw what he believed was a human skull in the roadway.
  • At 10:24 p.m. a resident called police about a group of youths drinking outside on Puritan Road.

Saturday, Aug. 27

  • A resident reported a group of youths in an abandoned lot on Shelton Road at 11:55 a.m.
  • At 6:21 p.m. a wire came down on Nichols Street.

Sunday, Aug. 28

  • At 7:09 a.m. police received a report of two people in the rough surf at the end of Red Rock Park. Lynn Police were notified.
  • Police and DPW reported to tree limbs down on Grant Rd., Francis Rd., Salem St., Columbia Rd., Walker Rd., Magnolia Rd., Humphrey St., Middlesex Ave., Galloupes Terrace, Atlantic Rd., Sutton Pl., Stanley Rd., Erie St., Nason Rd., Pine Hill Rd., throughout Sunday.
  • At 2:36 p.m. police taped off the beach stairs on Burrill Street.
  • Police received a call about a free floating boat in the harbor at 4:17 p.m.
  • A resident found someone's pet bird on Sunset Drive at 5:44 p.m. Police notified the Animal Control Officer.

Monday, Aug. 29

  • At 6:59 a.m. the Harbormaster notified those who had boats on the beach.

The following people were arrested: 

  • Ellis J. Webber, 21, 79 Stetson Ave., was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and on a warrant.
  • Mauricio Morrell Santos, 41, 60 Dudley St., Chelsea, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, speeding, driving an unregistered vehicle and plate violation.
