Owner With Dog Off-Leash Escorted Off Beach

Sunday, July 6

An erratic driver was reported on Essex Street headed toward Stop and Shop at 12:48 a.m. It was gone when officers arrived.

A hit and run crash involving a parked car occurred at a Cherry Street address at 2:15 a.m. No vehicle was seen leaving the area.

A dog was reportedly left unattended in a car at Stop and Shop on Paradise Street for the past 10 minutes at 7:35 a.m. The car was gone when officers arrived.

A loud explosion was reported on Atlantic Avenue and a resident said they lost power at 8:10 a.m. An officer checked the area and was unable to find a problem. National Grid was notified and said they are aware of the problem and would respond.

An injured bird was reported on the Essex Street sidewalk - on the side headed toward Salem just past Fiory’s store – at 8:27 a.m.

A power line was down on the sidewalk on Puritan Road at 10:58 a.m. National Grid was notified that it was pole 64.

A lost wallet was reported on Preston Beach at 11:17 a.m.

A Norfolk Avenue resident reported finding a Samsung phone on her front steps at 11:23 a.m. after returning home from a walk.

A person walking a dog off-leash on Phillips Beach was escorted off the beach at 12:55 p.m.

Five vehicles were issued tickets after a parking complaint on Shepard Avenue near Blodgett Avenue at 1:16 p.m.

A caller complained about construction noise coming from the former JRC site on Paradise Road at 2:05 p.m. An officer responded and found that no work was going on and the caller was told to contact Town Hall during business hours.

A resident on Eureka Avenue reported a past instance of suspicious activity at 2:39 p.m.

The resident at the same Eureka Avenue address as earlier said that people who came on his property earlier have returned and are threatening him at 3:20 p.m.

A parking complaint came in from Blaney Circle and Blaney Street where car were making it difficult for

Fire Department access at 7:18 p.m. One vehicle moved before police arrived and the other vehicle was ticketed.

A caller reported loud noise from a party at Redington and Rockland streets at 7:21 p.m. An officer checked in and founds that it was coming from a block party and there was no problem.

MBTA bus 441 was not able to make its normal route at Ellis and Paradise roads because of the fireworks and an officer helped it get back to Humphrey Street at 8:33 p.m.

A noise complaint was received about fireworks coming from the Beach Club on Shepard Avenue at 8:45 p.m.

A live power line was down on the ground on Humphrey Street near Atlantic Crossing. It was unclear whether it was a power line and sawhorses were set up around it and National grid was notified at 8:56 p.m.

A dog that had been barking for hours was reported at a Walker Road address at 9:17 p.m.

A shoplifting was reported at Walgreens on Paradise Road at 9:27 p.m. It was not clear whether anything was taken and the suspect fled.

Officers located the suspect from the earlier shoplifting at Walgreens – a 57-year-old female – and had her go back to Walgreens and made restitution at 9:35 p.m.

A ride home was given from the S curves to an Essex Street address at 10:10 p.m.

A noise complaint about a rock and roll band came from Bay View Avenue at 10:14 p.m. The homeowner said they will keep it down.

Loud fireworks were coming a Phillips Street address 10:20 p.m.

A small group of adults with a fire were found on Phillips Beach at 10:38 a.m. The fire was put out.

A tree was on the electric wires on Manton Road at 11:18 p.m. National Grid was notified.

Loud fireworks were going off on Phillips Street at 11:23 p.m.
